Skype Guitar Lessons From HoustonGuitar

The Campfire Guitar Program
over Skype

The songs you learn are
completely up to you.

The name says it all. This is all you need, and only what you need, to play along with campfire favorites, including rock and country songs from the 60’s and 70’s.

I call this a ‘program’ even though it is not a set course with a beginning, middle and end. There is no structure, other than the idea of focusing on just the skills related to open chord strumming, and learning songs in that style. And

because you choose the songs you want to learn, this ‘program’ is whatever you make it.

The first thing I’ll ask you for is a list of the songs you want to learn. If you want to sing and play, I can help you with that too. Again, you choose the songs. It doesn’t matter whether I know them or not.

This is open-chord strumming, also called ‘rhythm guitar.’ If you want to get into leads and note-picking, I can help you with that also.

You can use the ‘dots’ system. I’ll give you instructions on how to set them up. Or you can just memorize the dozen or so chord shapes.

Like all of my lessons, the approach is shape-based, conditioning-based, play by ear. Most adults only need a few lessons to learn the basics. Then, I can help you with individual songs. With some students, I have taught three or four songs in one lesson.

Many of my ‘Campfire’ students reach their playing goal after fewer than a dozen lessons, usually spaced over 4 to 6 months. (Of course, others are inspired to new musical goals …)
